could be a problem

i've been sick the past few days and today finally gave it up and went to the doctor. nothing really, just major congestion, no infection. he gave me a nice antihistimine combined with a lovely decongestant. when i read the insert it stated "may have the same affect as an amphetamine". can you say jittery three times fast??!! hey, at least i can breathe.

hair

did i mention? mine is officially cut off after a long stint of it being long. it's now short and sassy as one friend said...in kind of a dangerous sort of way. hmmm...THAT is exactly the comment i was looking for.

the last post

okay, so it was a little bit dark. that's actually better than i felt last week, which was like someone had decapitated me, hung me on a hook and let the blood just drain out. life has its ups and downs. it seems i'm just stuck in the downs right now. that's okay. i know it will pass. and the cool thing i've learned is that God doesn't care. i mean, doesn't care if i'm up or down. that's comforting. i mean, to me, to know that he/she is there, solid. so, when my moods fluctuate it's so nice to know there is a higher someone whose moods don't.

on a different note...check out what my youngest daughter (3) said the other day. she always seems to be around when i'm getting dressed. i have to preface it by saying that a few weeks ago she claimed that when she grows up she wants to be a barbie.

isabel: MAMA! WHY do you have FUR on your bottom??!!!!

mama: well, when girls grow up they grow hair there for protection. (snicker, snicker)

isabel: WELL, when I grow up I"M going to be a BARBIE and BARBIE'S don't HAVE fur.

so true my dear. can you say brazilian? wax, that is. ouch.

on another note. i need advice. my oldest son is 12 in about 3 weeks. there are a few girls who have been calling our house. what to do?! he is mister innocent. has not a clue. i, however, am a girl. i know how they think. even seemingly innocent girls. girls are smart. boys are....well, boys just are not. they can be taken advantage of. easy prey. what to do? ignore or take action? monitor the phone or look the other way? what IS a mother to DO? and here i thought boys would be easier. i'm here to tell you, it doesn't matter. boys or girls. moving into the teen years is just plain weird. and it happens earlier that you think. it sneaks up on you. just the other day he was a babe in my arms. now he saunters around here with his long, dyed red hair and his skateboarder skowl. he, however, still giggles. it's adorable. i love to hear this unbridled laughter. he can keep growing. his hair can be every color imaginable. he can wear what he wants. i'll know him by that cute, little boy laugh. i hope THAT never changes.

my husband has been working like a madman to get that coffee shop ready. i've barely seen him. once it opens, things will calm down. life will be normal again. that'll be good.

cars, walls and me

think of a car speeding recklessly down the highway. now think of a big brick wall at the end of the highway. that's how i feel right now.

happy moms day

to all of my fellow moms.

by the way, i hate days like today. and fathers day. and valentines day. and sweethearts day. and grandparents day. and all of the minor holidays. when we got married we said we would avoid all of these sorts of day. the minor holidays. christmas, the birthdays. those were the important ones. of course, the first year we were married and valentines day rolled around, who expected CHOCOLATE??? of course, the first year we had a baby when mothers day rolled around, who expected BREAKFAST IN BED???? of course, the first year we had a baby and fathers day rolled around, who expected to be TREATED LIKE A KING??? of course, the other holidays WERE REALLY minor holidays and went by ignored...except for a small tinge of guilt on grandparents day. after 12 years, 5 kids and many failed expectations, i've learned to accept these holidays for what they are.....extra money for hallmark. if i were queen there would be chocolate in every moms purse, breakfast in bed every day, every dad would be treated like a king and everyday we would feel loved, respected, admired and adored. anyone up for electing me queen????

WHEW!!!

just got back from a two week vacation that came on the heels of a yard sale that happened because we have to sell our house because the monies are getting tighter and tighter because we've hung out for 12 years and have never really gotten "real" jobs because that just isn't our thing and it's worked out great till now because royalties have been good because lots of people recorded my hubby's song but now not that many people are or care and he isn't on the fast track writing more and we just bought into a coffeeshop and (did i say we have to sell our house?) we have no idea where we are going to move OH and we have five kids who are looking to us to guide them...WHEW. i think i need a vacation.
