close to home

i posted awhile ago that we had found a church thing in indiana. well, that church thing is still there, but we decided that driving 30 minutes was a bit ridiculous. i think going to church in your neighborhood makes the most sense and since we're not moving to indiana anytime soon....we've checked out a presbyterian church nearby. aidan's guitar teacher leads worship there and david knows some other guy who goes there. it definitely makes sense to drive 5 minutes up the road for a church meeting. i mean, the reality is i don't really want another church meeting.....i want relationships. which i have, just not with the people at that church. but hopefully while we live in this space, we will develop relationships with people who attend that meeting and it will be fine. so, i'm sorta sad because i really like my friends in indiana and would love to do the church thing with them BUT for now this is where we are.

on a side note, aidan's guitar teacher wants him to be in the youth band (which i think is mostly older youth...aidan's 10). so, i'm trying not to be overly proud. but he is really good on guitar....shockingly so. he picks things up so fast and sometimes i think david's playing and i look in and it's aidan. ooooo i hope someday i'm sitting in a bar somewhere listening to an amazing band that my son is in!!

david got the new u2 but he hasn't listened to it yet....me neither. what's up with that?? i think when we saw bono at that foofy restaurant downtown and david was asked to take some pictures and i saw how bono acted (like a typical, very rich rock star) he was knocked down off my pedastal. not that i don't think he writes great songs and does great acts of kindness which has saved many lives.....i just realize now that he's pretty much like anyone else in the music business. you portray an image.....people idolize you and when the meet you their ideals of you are completely different than the person you are. SO, i do plan to listen to the cd....but i won't think of bono in the same way anymore. the edge and larry are still up there.....however, adam never made it....

when did you see bono?? i'm sure i would be disillusioned, too, if i were there, but he's still one of the few celebrities that make me swoon...silly me.

when are you going to come to columbus and have a girls' night?

i'm happy not to be famous....i'm such a people pleaser that it would be too stressful! amy, we have this friend...you might remember him...richard brown. he and his wife came to house church for awhile. he's the maitre'd at pigalls downtown. a couple years ago he called us saying that bono and his crew would be dining there that night(they had been in town on that AIDS speaking tour thing)and the chef wanted some pictures and would david come take some. SO, of course we flew down there...:) it was fun to see him up close, and we never really told anyone that we had.....i think it was the strolling out of the restaurant with the two lovely blonds on each arm and the inability to be gracious (the chef made 23 special orders that night) that did it for me......
