i like christmas

honestly, i do. i like most of the music. bruce cockburn's christmas album ranking at number 1...shawn colvin close behind. i like the lights....it seems so dim after january 1st. i like giving my kids gifts that i wouldn't give them at any other time of the year. i like making lots of cookies. i like getting gifts that i wouldn't be given any other time of the year. mostly, i like that the world seems to stop for one day. that there is quiet. that most people are in some way affected by the spiritual hum for one day. that most people know it's a time of rebirth....a time to begin again...a time to recognize who we are and why we're here.
my thoughts are with friends who work with people whose lives are torn, who are trying to get back. i feel so sheltered physically at times. but my mind is constantly wondering, praying, thinking of the world. sometimes it can be so heavy. this time of year more that ever....my thoughts are lifted to my god on the smoke of incense in hopes that for one day...there can be peace in the hearts of man.
